Woodturning Courses

Turn in a spacious well-lit workshop.

2 or 3 day courses are available in 2010 on the dates shown below for a timetable 10am to 3pm each day. Courses are for up to 3 students. This timetable allows you to spend the rest of the day with your friends/family, to explore the area or just chill out on the beach. 23 to 25 April 9 and 10 May 18 to 20 June 16 to 18 July 6 to 8 August 15 to 17 October 22 to 24 October During this period there are direct flights to Crete from most European countries. Other dates can be arranged by contacting us. Full day courses can only take place in the months January to April, and November, during this period you fly to Crete via Athens.

Come and enjoy a few days of inspirational woodturning with me in the beautiful countryside of Crete. In the well-equipped workshop you can learn with me and also enjoy views of the hills and sea.

Courses are available for different levels of student from beginner to advanced, each course being individually tailored to your needs, but with a focus on hollow turning with integrated carving for the more advanced student. All courses will deal with safety factors, wood storage and treatment, tool sharpening and technique, design considerations. Each person will have some olive wood to take home with them, in addition to the wood they use during the course.

In addition to the woodturning courses we can now also offer activities for partners to choose from, as follows:

-Art and Craft courses, cookery courses with experienced teacher Sophia Theodosaki.

My house and workshop are set in wonderful scenery, 10 minutes drive from the town of Rethymno with its Venetian old town and long stretch of beach. There are two airports- Hania and Heraklion - within an hour´s drive of Rethymno. To make your trip easier, my wife and I can organise your transport and accommodation while on Crete.
